Which is the Most Expensive Watch in the World and How Much Did it Cost?
Do you like expensive watches ? Have you ever wondered what is the most expensive watch ever sold outside of an auction ? Well the answer to that is quite simple, it is not a vulgar flashy Rolex covered in gold, it is in fact a rather discrete offering from
Franck Muller. Franck Muller calls himself a Master of Complications and he has created the
world’s most expensive watch (outside of an auction) in the form of the Aeternitas Mega 4™ Grande Sonnerie Westminster Carillon.
It was sold on Saturday 7th November 2009, to a rather wealthy Texan gentleman, Michael J. Gould, in the luxurious setting of the salon ‘Empire’ in the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo for the modest price of $2.7 million.
the most expensive watch in the world this morning -
Franck Muller Watch - and musing on how strange this planet is where some people are willing to spend $2.7 million on something to know what time it is, whilst others such as myself have never owned a watch and never will, when I noticed something odd.
I had added an Amazon capsule to the aforementioned hub when I saw that one of the items that Amazon was displaying was a watch that was being offered at what seemed to me to be the ridiculous price of $92,799.93 yes, over $92,000 for a watch on Amazon! What was even more remarkable was that it had been reduced from the previous price of $145,000 - a saving of $52,200.07 cents ! And it ships for free with super saver shipping !
Well I was amazed, but maybe that just shows how little I know about Amazon. I had always assumed that it sold everyday sort of stuff. Computers, DVDs, a few handbags and shoes and household products etc... I had never imagined that you could buy a $92,000 watch over Amazon by just typing in your credit card details.
This set me wondering as to if this watch was the most expensive item on Amazon or if there were other even more expensive things that you could actually buy on Amazon, as opposed to things with ridiculous prices such as the CA DESKTOP MIGRATOR 2007 LARGE BOX ECOMMERCE 1U on offer for $1,293,600.00, and a
Queen Anne Cast Iron Table Base: Standard Height: 28.5" for the modest sum of $1,724,998.28 - the customer reviews are well worth a read but it is clear these prices are incorrect.
I therefore set out to discover the most expensive items on Amazon which I have listed below in reverse order - from cheapest to most expensive. I have also put up a poll so that you can try and guess how much the most expensive items are before you actually see the prices.
The following list therefore shows the most expensive items I could find on Amazon that appear to be genuine items and that appear to be genuinely on sale - so if you want to buy yourself one or two then just click on the links and knock yourself out ! If you know of anything more expensive then please let me know, I had a good look around but I can't guarantee that there aren't others lying in some unexplored corner.
